--- res: bibo_abstract: - To determine the number of open Ca(2+) channels necessary for transmitter release at the inhibitory basket cell-granule cell synapse in rat hippocampus, we combined presynaptic Ca(2+) imaging, recording of postsynaptic currents and modeling. We found that that the opening of three or fewer Ca(2+) channels triggered transmitter release. Furthermore, a small number of Ca(2+) channels were able to evoke release with high temporal precision, despite stochastic Ca(2+) channel opening.@eng bibo_authorlist: - foaf_Person: foaf_givenName: Iancu foaf_name: Bucurenciu, Iancu foaf_surname: Bucurenciu - foaf_Person: foaf_givenName: Josef foaf_name: Bischofberger, Josef foaf_surname: Bischofberger - foaf_Person: foaf_givenName: Peter M foaf_name: Peter Jonas foaf_surname: Jonas foaf_workInfoHomepage: http://www.librecat.org/personId=353C1B58-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87 orcid: 0000-0001-5001-4804 bibo_doi: '10.1038/nn.2461 ' bibo_issue: '1' bibo_volume: 13 dct_date: 2010^xs_gYear dct_publisher: Nature Publishing Group@ dct_title: A small number of open Ca(2+) channels trigger transmitter release at a central GABAergic synapse@ ...
