Local fluctuations in water and nutrient availability, sudden changes in temperature or other abiotic and biotic stresses can trigger changes in the growth of plant organs. Multiple mutually interconnected hormonal signaling cascades act as essential endogenous translators of these exogenous signals in the adaptive responses of plants. Although the molecular backbones of hormone transduction pathways have been identified, the mechanisms underlying their interactions are largely unknown. Here, using genome wide transcriptome profiling we identify an auxin and cytokinin cross-talk component; SYNERGISTIC ON AUXIN AND CYTOKININ 1 (SYAC1), whose expression in roots is strictly dependent on both of these hormonal pathways. We show that SYAC1 is a regulator of secretory pathway, whose enhanced activity interferes with deposition of cell wall components and can fine-tune organ growth and sensitivity to soil pathogens.","lang":"eng"}],"title":"Synergistic on Auxin and Cytokinin 1 positively regulates growth and attenuates soil pathogen resistance","external_id":{"pmid":["32358503"],"isi":["000531425900012"]},"article_processing_charge":"No","author":[{"id":"4DC4AF46-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87","first_name":"Andrej","last_name":"Hurny","full_name":"Hurny, Andrej","orcid":"0000-0003-3638-1426"},{"full_name":"Cuesta, Candela","orcid":"0000-0003-1923-2410","last_name":"Cuesta","first_name":"Candela","id":"33A3C818-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87"},{"full_name":"Cavallari, Nicola","last_name":"Cavallari","first_name":"Nicola","id":"457160E6-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87"},{"last_name":"Ötvös","full_name":"Ötvös, Krisztina","orcid":"0000-0002-5503-4983","first_name":"Krisztina","id":"29B901B0-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87"},{"last_name":"Duclercq","full_name":"Duclercq, Jerome","first_name":"Jerome"},{"last_name":"Dokládal","full_name":"Dokládal, Ladislav","first_name":"Ladislav"},{"last_name":"Montesinos López","full_name":"Montesinos López, Juan C","orcid":"0000-0001-9179-6099","id":"310A8E3E-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87","first_name":"Juan C"},{"full_name":"Gallemi, Marçal","orcid":"0000-0003-4675-6893","last_name":"Gallemi","first_name":"Marçal","id":"460C6802-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87"},{"first_name":"Hana","id":"42FE702E-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87","full_name":"Semeradova, Hana","last_name":"Semeradova"},{"id":"A0385D1A-9376-11EA-A47D-9862C5E3AB22","first_name":"Thomas","last_name":"Rauter","full_name":"Rauter, Thomas"},{"first_name":"Irene","full_name":"Stenzel, Irene","last_name":"Stenzel"},{"first_name":"Geert","last_name":"Persiau","full_name":"Persiau, Geert"},{"full_name":"Benade, Freia","last_name":"Benade","first_name":"Freia"},{"first_name":"Rishikesh","last_name":"Bhalearo","full_name":"Bhalearo, Rishikesh"},{"first_name":"Eva","last_name":"Sýkorová","full_name":"Sýkorová, Eva"},{"first_name":"András","last_name":"Gorzsás","full_name":"Gorzsás, András"},{"first_name":"Julien","last_name":"Sechet","full_name":"Sechet, Julien"},{"first_name":"Gregory","full_name":"Mouille, Gregory","last_name":"Mouille"},{"last_name":"Heilmann","full_name":"Heilmann, Ingo","first_name":"Ingo"},{"full_name":"De Jaeger, Geert","last_name":"De Jaeger","first_name":"Geert"},{"last_name":"Ludwig-Müller","full_name":"Ludwig-Müller, Jutta","first_name":"Jutta"},{"last_name":"Benková","full_name":"Benková, Eva","orcid":"0000-0002-8510-9739","first_name":"Eva","id":"38F4F166-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87"}],"user_id":"4359f0d1-fa6c-11eb-b949-802e58b17ae8","citation":{"short":"A. Here we illustrate this statement by considering a system of tubes filled with dipolar distinguishable particles. We calculate the partition function, which determines the probability to find a few-body cluster at a given temperature. The input for our calculations—the energies of few-body clusters—is estimated using the harmonic approximation. We first describe and demonstrate the validity of our numerical procedure. Then we discuss the results featuring melting of the zero-temperature many-body state into a gas of free particles and few-body clusters. For temperature higher than its binding energy threshold, the dimers overwhelmingly dominate the ensemble, where the remaining probability is in free particles. At very high temperatures free (harmonic oscillator trap-bound) particle dominance is eventually reached. This structure evolution appears both for one and two particles in each layer providing crucial information about the behavior of ultracold dipolar gases. The investigation addresses the transition region between few- and many-body physics as a function of temperature using a system of ten dipoles in five tubes.","lang":"eng"}],"oa_version":"Published Version","file_date_updated":"2020-07-14T12:48:04Z","department":[{"_id":"MiLe"}],"date_updated":"2023-08-21T06:23:36Z","ddc":["510"],"article_type":"original","type":"journal_article","tmp":{"legal_code_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode","image":"/images/cc_by.png","name":"Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License (CC-BY 4.0)","short":"CC BY (4.0)"},"status":"public","_id":"7882","date_published":"2020-04-01T00:00:00Z","doi":"10.3390/math8040484","date_created":"2020-05-24T22:01:00Z","isi":1,"has_accepted_license":"1","year":"2020","day":"01","publication":"Mathematics","quality_controlled":"1","publisher":"MDPI","oa":1,"author":[{"full_name":"Armstrong, Jeremy R.","last_name":"Armstrong","first_name":"Jeremy R."},{"last_name":"Jensen","full_name":"Jensen, Aksel S.","first_name":"Aksel S."},{"first_name":"Artem","id":"37D278BC-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87","last_name":"Volosniev","full_name":"Volosniev, Artem","orcid":"0000-0003-0393-5525"},{"first_name":"Nikolaj T.","last_name":"Zinner","full_name":"Zinner, Nikolaj T."}],"external_id":{"isi":["000531824100024"]},"article_processing_charge":"No","title":"Clusters in separated tubes of tilted dipoles","citation":{"apa":"Armstrong, J. We investigate IL-17 signaling in neurons, and the extent it can alter organismal phenotypes. We combine immunoprecipitation and mass spectrometry to biochemically characterize endogenous signaling complexes that function downstream of IL-17 receptors in C. elegans neurons. We identify the paracaspase MALT-1 as a critical output of the pathway. MALT1 mediates signaling from many immune receptors in mammals, but was not previously implicated in IL-17 signaling or nervous system function. C. elegans MALT-1 forms a complex with homologs of Act1 and IRAK and appears to function both as a scaffold and a protease. MALT-1 is expressed broadly in the C. elegans nervous system, and neuronal IL-17–MALT-1 signaling regulates multiple phenotypes, including escape behavior, associative learning, immunity and longevity. Our data suggest MALT1 has an ancient role modulating neural circuit function downstream of IL-17 to remodel physiology and behavior."}],"intvolume":" 11","month":"04","scopus_import":"1","user_id":"4359f0d1-fa6c-11eb-b949-802e58b17ae8","citation":{"ista":"Flynn SM, Chen C, Artan M, Barratt S, Crisp A, Nelson GM, Peak-Chew SY, Begum F, Skehel M, de Bono M. 2020. How a cell surveys and then corrects its own shape is poorly understood. Here, we demonstrate that spatially distinct microtubule dynamics regulate amoeboid cell migration by locally promoting the retraction of protrusions. In migrating dendritic cells, local microtubule depolymerization within protrusions remote from the microtubule organizing center triggers actomyosin contractility controlled by RhoA and its exchange factor Lfc. Depletion of Lfc leads to aberrant myosin localization, thereby causing two effects that rate-limit locomotion: (1) impaired cell edge coordination during path finding and (2) defective adhesion resolution. Compromised shape control is particularly hindering in geometrically complex microenvironments, where it leads to entanglement and ultimately fragmentation of the cell body. We thus demonstrate that microtubules can act as a proprioceptive device: they sense cell shape and control actomyosin retraction to sustain cellular coherence."}],"month":"06","intvolume":" 219","scopus_import":"1","file":[{"file_name":"2020_JCellBiol_Kopf.pdf","date_created":"2020-11-24T13:25:13Z","file_size":7536712,"date_updated":"2020-11-24T13:25:13Z","creator":"dernst","success":1,"checksum":"cb0b9c77842ae1214caade7b77e4d82d","file_id":"8801","content_type":"application/pdf","relation":"main_file","access_level":"open_access"}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"publication_identifier":{"eissn":["1540-8140"]},"publication_status":"published","issue":"6","volume":219,"ec_funded":1},{"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"file":[{"date_created":"2020-05-25T15:15:43Z","file_name":"2020_eLife_Schauer.pdf","date_updated":"2020-07-14T12:48:04Z","file_size":7744848,"creator":"dernst","checksum":"f6aad884cf706846ae9357fcd728f8b5","file_id":"7890","content_type":"application/pdf","access_level":"open_access","relation":"main_file"}],"publication_status":"published","publication_identifier":{"issn":["2050-084X"]},"ec_funded":1,"volume":9,"related_material":{"record":[{"relation":"dissertation_contains","id":"12891","status":"public"}]},"oa_version":"Published Version","pmid":1,"abstract":[{"lang":"eng","text":"Embryonic stem cell cultures are thought to self-organize into embryoid bodies, able to undergo symmetry-breaking, germ layer specification and even morphogenesis. Yet, it is unclear how to reconcile this remarkable self-organization capacity with classical experiments demonstrating key roles for extrinsic biases by maternal factors and/or extraembryonic tissues in embryogenesis. Here, we show that zebrafish embryonic tissue explants, prepared prior to germ layer induction and lacking extraembryonic tissues, can specify all germ layers and form a seemingly complete mesendoderm anlage. Importantly, explant organization requires polarized inheritance of maternal factors from dorsal-marginal regions of the blastoderm. Moreover, induction of endoderm and head-mesoderm, which require peak Nodal-signaling levels, is highly variable in explants, reminiscent of embryos with reduced Nodal signals from the extraembryonic tissues. Together, these data suggest that zebrafish explants do not undergo bona fide self-organization, but rather display features of genetically encoded self-assembly, where intrinsic genetic programs control the emergence of order."}],"intvolume":" 9","month":"04","scopus_import":"1","ddc":["570"],"date_updated":"2023-08-21T06:25:49Z","file_date_updated":"2020-07-14T12:48:04Z","department":[{"_id":"CaHe"},{"_id":"Bio"}],"_id":"7888","status":"public","tmp":{"legal_code_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode","image":"/images/cc_by.png","name":"Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License (CC-BY 4.0)","short":"CC BY (4.0)"},"article_type":"original","type":"journal_article","publication":"eLife","day":"06","year":"2020","isi":1,"has_accepted_license":"1","date_created":"2020-05-25T15:01:40Z","doi":"10.7554/elife.55190","date_published":"2020-04-06T00:00:00Z","oa":1,"publisher":"eLife Sciences Publications","quality_controlled":"1","user_id":"4359f0d1-fa6c-11eb-b949-802e58b17ae8","citation":{"ista":"Schauer A, Nunes Pinheiro DC, Hauschild R, Heisenberg C-PJ. 2020.
